About Me
Utsav is a product designer from Toronto, recently he helped architect the design system for SnapTravel and designed their brand and product from the ground up for the last three years as their principal product designer. He previously worked as a freelancer and a design strategist for various startups, helping them design delightful experiences both for products and services. Outside of work, you can find him headbanging, capturing frames, or picking up food in a South Asian market.

Utsav has worked closely with SnapTravel's Machine Learning team in designing the voice and tone for their chatbot and also stretching the capabilities of conversational commerce by applying design thinking.

We researched, ideated, and tested a design that saved the company $10,752 for support services a year. The challenge was to help our users understand their hotel booking cancellation policy so that they don't reach out to our customer support agents.
Curated a cancellation policy design to reduce support service costs
Redesigned the checkout process to improve booking conversion
After better understanding the user's problems with the booking form, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, testing new ideas with the users, we were able to achieve a significant increase in the booking conversion, which exceeded the industry standards.
We worked closely with the machine learning team to understand the capabilities of the chatbot, and also spoke to many users to better understand their needs. This approach helped us in designing a satisfying experience.
